MarComs People launched as UK’s first PR knowledge transfer and skills development consultancy for in-house marketing teams.
New firm will upskill internal teams to deliver successful PR campaigns without agency dependency.
MarComs People has officially launched as the UK’s first consultancy focused on equipping in-house marketing teams with the practical PR expertise and skills they need to confidently manage their own communications.
The new service aims to close the skills and knowledge gap businesses face after ending their PR agency relationship to bring the PR function in-house, or when developing an internal PR capability for the first time.
Paul MacKenzie-Cummins, Managing Director at MarComs People, said:
“As more businesses seek to internalise their PR - driven primarily by demands for better cost control and deeper brand integration across multiple customer touchpoints – this often results in missed media opportunities and PR campaigns that fail to deliver.
“In-house teams often struggle with lost expertise and project management acumen previously provided by external agencies, or they simply have little or no PR experience among their current teams and lack the know-how to effectively manage PR projects.”
Indeed, this is supported by recent data* showing that a third of businesses are turning to AI to generate press releases and one in five in-house teams say they struggle to secure media coverage.
“MarComs People has been created to bridge this gap,” said Paul MacKenzie-Cummins.
“We don’t just advise – we transfer knowledge and provide teams with the real-world practical skills they need to take control of their communications and deliver results.”
MarComs People consists of a team of current PR agency practitioners who divide their time between leading live campaigns for retained clients with their respective agencies and empowering in-house marketing teams under the MarComs People banner.
The business offers tailored training progammes of up to 10 weeks in duration that upskill in-house marketing teams in all aspects of PR, including media relations, press release writing, campaign planning, personal and executive branding, and reputation management.
“We created MarComs People to enable in-house teams to become self-sufficient and capable of overcoming the PR challenges of today while ensuring consistent and effectiveness of their communication in a cost-effective way,” said Paul MacKenzie-Cummins.
The launch of MarComs People comes at a time when businesses are under increased pressure to demonstrate an ROI on all marketing spend. By transferring knowledge in-house and upskilling internal teams, MarComs People believe organisations can maximise the value of their internal resources and deliver high-impact brand and bottom-line building projects and campaigns over the long term.
“Businesses shouldn’t have to choose between being tied to a PR agency retainer or ineffective in-house PR efforts. Our approach empowers marketing teams with the skills and confidence to deliver PR that works,” said Paul MacKenzie-Cummins.
